Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company (Mutual of Omaha) Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans
Original Medicare (Medicare Part A and Part B) helps pay for a wide range of health care services and supplies, but it doesn’t fully pay for most of those services. Medicare beneficiaries are required to pay deductibles, coinsurance, copays and other out-of-pocket costs that can add up quickly.
A Medicare supplement insurance (also called Medigap) plan – like the ones offered by Mutual of Omaha – can help pay for these costs, filling some of your Medicare coverage gaps.
Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan A
Plan A offers fewer benefits than the other standardized Medigap plans. If Plan A is available where you live and it offers lower premiums than other types of Medigap plans, it could be a good fit for you if you anticipate infrequent health care needs.
Medicare supplement insurance Plan A fully covers:
- Medicare Part A hospital inpatient coinsurance costs and one additional year of inpatient hospital costs after Medicare benefits are exhausted
- Medicare Part A hospice care coinsurance and copayments
- Medicare Part B coinsurance and copayments
- First three pints of blood used in a transfusion
Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan G
Plan G is quickly becoming the most popular Medicare supplement insurance plan for new Medicare beneficiaries.1
Plan G fully covers:
- Medicare Part A deductible
- Medicare Part A hospital inpatient coinsurance costs and one additional year of inpatient hospital costs after Medicare benefits are exhausted
- Medicare Part A hospice care coinsurance and copayments
- Medicare Part B coinsurance and copayments
- First three pints of blood used in a transfusion
- Part A coinsurance for inpatient skilled nursing facility stays
- Medicare Part B excess charges which may not exceed any charge limitations established by Medicare
- 80% of emergency care received outside the U.S.
What Is the Deductible for Mutual of Omaha Plan G?
Depending on where you live, you may be able to choose between two different versions of Medicare supplement insurance Plan G.
The standard version has no deductible, which means your Plan G benefits kick in without having to meet a plan deductible amount. High-deductible Plan G, however, requires you to meet a deductible ($2,800 in 2024) before plan benefits kick in.
For example, if you have standard Plan G and are admitted to the hospital for inpatient care, your Part A deductible costs would be fully covered.
If you have high-deductible Plan G and receive the same inpatient hospital care, you have to pay your Part A deductible and any Part A coinsurance or copayment costs until you spend a total of $2,800 and reach your high-deductible Plan G deductible.
High-deductible Plan G typically features lower monthly premiums in exchange for the plan deductible. This plan could potentially be a good fit for you if you don’t anticipate using your Medicare coverage often during the year but still want peace of mind knowing you’re protected from potentially high out-of-pocket Medicare costs if you do need extensive medical care.
Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan F
Plan F offers more benefits than any other Medigap plan, including everything covered by Plan G as well as the Medicare Part B deductible ($240 per year in 2024).
Due to a recent federal law, Plan F is only available to beneficiaries who were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020. If you became eligible for Medicare before that date, you can still apply for Plan F if it’s available where you live.
What Is the Deductible for Mutual of Omaha Plan F?
Like Plan G, there is also a standard and high-deductible version of Plan F.
High-deductible Plan F requires you to pay $2,800 in out-of-pocket spending on covered care in 2024 before the plan benefits kick in. For example, if you have High-Deductible Plan F, you must pay for the first $2,800 of Medicare services you receive in a year before Plan F would start paying your out-of-pocket Medicare costs.
High-deductible Plan F typically features lower monthly premiums than standard Plan F.
Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan N
Medicare supplement insurance Plan N offers a flexible model designed to keep premiums low. Plan N covers almost all of the same benefits that Plan G provides except coverage for Medicare Part B excess charges.
A doctor who doesn’t accept Medicare reimbursement is allowed to charge up to 15% more than the Medicare-approved amount for their services. These charges are called Part B excess charges. You can typically avoid Medicare excess charges by only visiting doctors and providers who accept Medicare assignment.
While Plan N covers Medicare Part B coinsurance and copayments, beneficiaries may be responsible for copayments of up to $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for emergency room visits that do not result in an inpatient admission. These cost-sharing aspects of Plan N help keep premiums lower than some other types of Medigap plans.
